ISAP has instigated the use of the Cmore software in Namibia. Cmore was developed by the CSiR (Council of Scientific & Industrial Research) in South Africa, primarily for use with SA Parks to counter the threat of poaching activities.
The CSIR in is one of the leading scientific and technology research,
development and implementation organizations in Africa.
A two day workshop was presented in the ISAP operations room, at the Ministry of Environment & Tourism H/O, by representatives from the CSIR.
Thanks to
the Ministry of Environment & Tourism (MET) for supporting this
great cause under the auspices of conservation and intelligence
gathering pertaining to, inter alia,
poaching and crimes against Namibia's wildlife, fauna and flora. Thanks
to Pieter and Herman for coming up on official invitation by ISAP and
endorsed by MET. The workshop was well attended by MET, WWF and of
course ISAP. This is the first computer software program in the
country that will be integrated to ISAP's intelligence gathering module
to combat crimes. This very sophisticated program is also currently
being used in the Kruger National Park by SANPARKS as well as many other organizations. It must surely be one of the most powerful programs
ever developed - ISAP/MET is privileged to introduce this state-of-the
art software in Namibia.
Similarly, to weather forecasting modules
that can predict days in advance, this system can also be configured to
predict a likely target area for example, rhino poaching! A very
powerful programme that ISAP is now starting to use with our
authorities. Hans Rack Tinus Hansen Piet Beytell Manie le Roux WWF Minister of Environment & Tourism Namibia Malan Lindeque
